Welcome to the Chelsham and Farleigh parish website. It has been created to serve the community to inform, and educate, and to generate a forum from the community. The Parish of Chelsham and Farleigh has a unique situation being on the edge of the urban sprawl that is Greater London, barely ten miles from Buckingham Palace and yet we are a very rural community. This presents distinctive challenges for us as a Parish. The Parish Council own and manage a substantial area of common land, including several woodlands and Chelsham Common itself with it’s lovely old pond, and avenue of trees planted by local school children to mark the millennium. The council meets on the first Monday of each month except August, and the public are always welcome to attend. We discuss all the issues facing the community and represent our area to the various authorities and agencies. This is done entirely voluntarily. If you are interested in getting involved with your local council we would be delighted to hear from you. We hope you find this website useful. Simon Peniston-Bird Chairman Chelsham & Farleigh Parish Council. March 2008. |
